Our teachers will incorporate the very best text books, multimedia and modern language teaching techniques into each course. We will make sure each student has the right balance between content and level of Mandarin Chinese learning:

• General Mandarin course content: Course content for General Mandarin Language courses is typically split 50:50 between speaking and language comprehension.
• General Mandarin levels:  A proficency test is given at the begin of the course to determine the level at which the student is taught. Our teachers will periodically review a student’s progress to ensure that the student is being taught at the correct proficiency level. Class proficency levels are divided as follows:

Beginner: Knowledge of 0 to 800 words	Beginner level includes students that have never learned Chinese, or who have learned Chinese phonetics and a few words, but cannot express themselves in complete sentences.
Elementary: Knowledge of 800 to 1500 words	Elementary level students are required to know at least 800 Chinese words. These students have basic knowledge of systematic grammar and sentence structure.
Intermediate: Knowledge of 1500 to 2500 words	Intermediate level students are required to know at least 1500 Chinese words. These students are conversational at a basic level in Chinese.
Advanced: Knowledge of 2000 to 3500 words	Advanced level students are required to know at least 2000 Chinese words. These students can express their opinions and general topics with good intonation.
Proficient: Knowledge of 3500+ words	Proficient level students are required to know at least 3,500 Chinese words. These students are able to read from newspapers and magazines, understand radio and television broadcasts, and can express themselves systematically using appropriate expressions and language norms.
