Our group class sizes are deliberately small, on average between two and six students per class. HSK EXAM PREPARATION

The HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) is China’s officially recognized Mandarin proficiency exam. HSK results are internationally recognised as proof of Mandarin Chinese language proficiency. MCE Language teachers are trained at helping language students succeed at this examination.

INTENSIVE MANDARIN

This program has a very thorough and rigorous curriculum comprised of the ‘General Mandarin’ program plus an additional 10 lessons a week which focus on Speaking. Ideal for anyone seeking accelerated learning in Chinese.

SPOKEN MANDARIN

This afternoon course is ideal for anyone wishing to improve speaking skills. Classes focus on speaking activities such as role plays, dialogues and interviews to provide maximum opportunity to practice speaking Chinese in a variety of different contexts. Its syllabus also builds vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. Four main levels. Each level is 12 weeks.

SURVIVAL MANDARIN

This course is effective and ideal for someone who does not speak Mandarin, but would like to know some basics to get around while travelling, working or doing business in a Mandarin Chinese speaking environment. The student will start learning through live conversation for real life situations. The course will walk you through the most commonly used phrases and sentences that you can apply instantly.

CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY

Practised for over 6000 years, calligraphy is a defining feature of Chinese culture as a means of communication and a revered form of art. In this course we will study the use of ink brushes to write abstract characters ranging from traditional to modern Chinese calligraphy styles.

MANDARIN FOR CANTONESE SPEAKERS

This course is designed exclusively for Cantonese speakers, who have basic Mandarin conversational skills but wish to tune up their pronunciation and advance to a higher level of Mandarin proficiency. Students start by developing a solid foundation of Pinyin and tones and go on to practice the most commonly used phrases and sentences in everyday life.
