Our highly progressive teaching methods differentiate us from other language training institutions because of our emphasis on applying language skills learnt in the classroom to real life situations.

Using MCE's successful 'real life' methodology, students reinforce the language learnt through continuous practical application to real life, everyday contexts. Our students achieve this by participating in a variety of interactive exercises and task-based activities including vocabulary and grammar building, role play, phonetics and pronunciation drills, interviews, dialogues, and discussion, where students are able to apply linguistic functions taught.

 

Topics students study have been carefully selected to include a well-balanced blend of everyday situations, Chinese culture, society, and history. Class work focuses on developing oral expression, listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing, and grammar and speaking skills. This integrated approach places emphasis on a more communicative method of teaching that maximizes practical application and encourages the student to 'learn as you do'.

 

MCE's language curriculum is based on the needs of each proficiency level and is designed to allow students to progress rapidly and gain language fluency. It utilizes only up-to-date materials to introduce students to modern day China , its social and economic life, culture, history, and literature.

 

General aims of our classes are as follows:

Oral Expression Classes: focus on developing participants' oral expression and pronunciation skills. At the lower proficiency levels simple topics related to daily life are taught, and more specialized and complex topics are taught at the higher proficiency levels.

Listening Comprehension Classes:
focus on developing participants' listening comprehension skills and the ability to understand the language when spoken at a normal speed.

Reading Comprehension Classes:
focus on developing participants' reading skills in both comprehension and speed.

Writing Classes:
focus on the fundamentals of the radical system, bushou, composition of characters and stroke orders.

Grammar Classes:
focus on the fundamentals of Chinese grammar, sentence structures, expressions, and phonetics.
